During the pandemic that I discovered Filoli Gardens and Home. How appropriate that it should stand for “Fight for a just cause; love your fellow man, and live a good life!”
I finally found an outlet from the confinement of my house. Filoli was a place I could breathe and walk freely among the laughter of flowers who did not know we were in a pandemic, and provided unlimited poses for my camera.
Now we are facing traumas of war blaring from our TVs and computer screens without reprieve. Now is a really good time to experience the comfort and beauty right here in our own hometown. A place that has survived other pandemics and other wars with fortitude. Filoli was built in 1917 just before the “Great Flu of 1918” where the U.S. lost more people than in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined.
For over a hundred years, Filoli has been a place of respite and has offered magical little escapes for time to breathe and revive us.
